These files replace the previous version, "qedit057.spk" and "qedit057.txt".



This version of Qedit has been developed by Joseph Heenan to support mail
and news transports other than ka9q. Problems with this version should be
reported to him at <joseph@odie.barnet.ac.uk>

The following transports are now supported:

 * FreeSMTP by Stewart Brodie (Mail)
 * POP by Daniel Pead (Mail)
 * NewsHound by Joseph Heenan (News)
 * FreeNews by John Smith (News)
 * ANT Internet Suite from ANT Ltd. (Mail & News)
 * Termite Internet from Doggysoft Ltd. (Mail & News)
 * ka9q (!TCPIP) (Mail & News)

Please note that you may need to manually configure your transports if
they are not automatically detected. Be sure to read the Help file carefully.

You should also note that Newsbase is still required if you wish to edit
messages, as edited messages are still reposted through Newsbase.

Installation
------------

If you intend to use Qedit via the Newsbase "Show Queues" menu option,
copy the program into the directory !Newsbase.AutoBoot. Otherwise, it
can be placed anywhere.

Features added:

 * Support added for FreeSMTP, POP, NewsHound, FreeNews, ANT and Termite.
 * Automatic transport detection.

Improved behaviour:

 * Queues are automatically reread when any modification occurs.
 * Now ignores malformed or unavailable queue entries.
 * Uses new, registered Newsbase WIMP messages.
 * Queue template improved to look better with desktop font.
 * Warns when you try to edit a message that is currently being sent.
 * Flags messages that are in the process of been sent.
 * Will now strip out surplus Received: headers. Fixes problems with
     FreeSMTP. Also strips out Sender: header.
 * Now parses email and uses Sender: header (if present) rather than
     From: header to set newsbase user. (fixes user masquerading prob.)

Bugs fixed:

 * Removed bug in parsing From: line
     (Joseph <jogu@.. was interpreted as user Joseph)
 * Now sets filetypes to text before passing them to an editor
     (this use to stop freesmtp edits coming up in Email mode in Zap)
 * Edit / hold cope if the message vanishes under them
 * mail command to newsbase was using old style message
 * Removed a surplus ')' from a line detecting the ANT suite
